“Working with Tom Pierce on our construction project on Martha’s Vineyard was a total pleasure from beginning to end. Tom was great to work with in every phase of our project from planning to design to permits to demolition to construction to move in. Tom formed a strong partnership with us and our architect from the beginning, and he was in constant communications with us throughout the project. Tom is not only a strong construction manager, but he is a craftsman and cares a lot about the quality of his work. He offered really good ideas in terms of design, accessories and fixtures. This was the first house we had ever built so it was very helpful to have a builder who was very experienced and knowledgeable, and also very easy to work with. It is also helpful that Tom has been living and working on the Island for many years, and he has very good relationships with the towns, sub-contractors, and other important service providers. In terms of budget and time line, Tom managed the project very effectively. We always knew where we stood in terms of project deliverables, deadlines and actuals vs budget. Tom is open and transparent, and stayed positive and constructive throughout the project. He doesn’t take himself too seriously and has a good sense of humor. Tom has a very good team working with him, including his own staff, as well as the sub-contractors that he brings in. He is a good people manager; he treats the team with respect, but also demands a lot from them. They met every deadline, including the most important project completion deadline. Tom asked us to vacate our house by mid-August 2017, so they could complete demolition and start the foundation before Labor Day. He met our targeted new home completion date of Memorial Day 2018, and we moved in in early June. Tom also did a good job of following through on punch list items.
